Which chart is this?
From August 1958 on, it's the Billboard Hot 100, the main US singles chart. Before the Hot 100 existed, it's Billboard's Best Sellers in Stores chart, which was the leading chart of the early 1950s. Billboard charts are dated by issue week, so the result is the song at No. 1 on the chart covering your birth date.
