Today in Tunes is a daily guide to music history. Each day has a featured song, plus the releases, chart milestones, birthdays and farewells that happened on that date.
How we check facts
- Every fact's exact date (day, month and year) is checked against a source, and each fact links to the page it was checked against.
- If sources disagree about the date, or only give a month or a year, we leave the fact out.
- Descriptions are written fresh for this site. We don't copy text from other sites.
Data and licenses
- Dates and details are verified mainly on Wikipedia, whose text is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license. Each fact links to its source page.
- The birthday lookup uses Wikipedia's lists of Billboard number-one singles: the Best Sellers in Stores chart from 1950 to July 1958, and the Billboard Hot 100 from August 1958. Chart data originates with Billboard. Today in Tunes is not affiliated with Billboard.
- Play buttons open the song on Spotify. Today in Tunes is not affiliated with Spotify.
